What is Catalyst?
Catalyst is an Alabama-based research program with the goal of learning if providing access to genetic testing, resources, education and health information improves health outcomes throughout the state. By participating in Catalyst, you will provide information that will be available for researchers to discover better ways to prevent, diagnose, and treat diseases. If you participate, you will receive free access to genetic testing requested by your medical provider. You will also be notified of clinical trials or other research opportunities you are eligible for based on your data.
Why participate in Catalyst?
By participating in Catalyst, you’ll contribute to building a comprehensive research database that researchers may use to find better ways to prevent, diagnose, and treat diseases. Genetic testing will provide you with information on what health risks you could develop and what medications will work best for you based on your genes. Participating in Catalyst will give you access to genetic testing and additional information that could lead to proactive health care, creating a legacy of informed and preventive care.
How do I participate?

Create an Account
Use an email address or mobile phone number to create an account. You will also be asked to answer a few questions about yourself like your name and birthday.

Check Your Eligibility
Check your eligibility by completing a quick two question survey.

Consent to Catalyst
Walk through short videos with program information about the program. If you choose to participate, you will be asked to sign the consent form (electronically).

Complete Surveys
Take two short surveys within your participant portal. One will inform us of your next provider appointment (so we can send your sample kit to your provider) and the seconds is a survey about your Social Determinants of Health.

Give Your Sample
Provide two tubes of blood for your genomic test and research.

Connect Your EHR
Share your EHR with us so we can connect you with future research opportunities like clinical trials.

Receive $25
For completing all of the activities above, you will be offered a $25 eGift card for your time.
